Course Description:
Words matter. This free 1-credit micro course helps educators develop respectful, inclusive, and person-centered language when discussing disabilities and supporting students with diverse learning needs. Participants will explore disability terminology, person-first and identity-first language, common misconceptions, and practical strategies for communicating with students, families, and colleagues in ways that promote dignity, belonging, and inclusion.
Through brief, engaging learning activities, educators will gain greater confidence in discussing disabilities thoughtfully and creating more inclusive school environments for all students.
